Kollam: A shocking incident surfaced from Kerala’s Kollam, where a 23-year-old allegedly killed his ex-girlfriend's brother and later died by suicide on Monday. Thejas Raj was reportedly unhappy after his ex-partner broke the relationship as her family fixed her marriage with another person.
The incident took place at 7 pm on Monday. Raj went to his ex-girlfriend's house in the Uliyakovi area of Kollam and allegedly stabbed 21-year-old Febin George Gomez, an undergraduate student, reported The Indian Express. Notably, Raj killed Gomes in front of his parents. His ex-girlfriend's father was also injured in the attack.
After allegedly killing Gomes, Raj stopped near railway tracks after driving his car for around 3 km and took his life, reported The Indian Express quoting police officials. He was wearing black clothes. As per the police, bottles of petrol were recovered from his car.
Raj's father is a police inspector. Raj and the woman were classmates. They had reportedly attended higher secondary and engineering courses together. Notably, both Raj and the woman belonged to different communities. However, their families never opposed their relationship due to this reason.
"Although they belonged to different communities, their families were not against their relationship. Meanwhile, the woman got a job in a leading bank, but Thejas Raj, who had passed the written test for a job as a police constable, failed to clear the physical test. This left him depressed and the woman is said to have drifted away from the relationship," a police official said as quoted by the media house.
"The woman’s family also prevented him from pestering her after she decided to end the affair. This seems to be the provocation for the murder," the officer added.
In the FIR, Gomes' mother alleged that Raj held a grudge against her family as they fixed their daughter's wedding with another man. She further claimed that on the day of the incident, Raj had come to her house to kill her entire family.
After reaching his ex-girlfriend's house, Raj first attacked her father after a heated argument. He then stabbed Gomes. After getting stabbed, the victim ran out of the house and then collapsed. The incident was captured on CCTV. He was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
After receiving information, the police launched a manhunt operation to nab Raj. However, soon they received information about Raj's suicide.
