Ranchi: Jharkhand government on Thursday signed historic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth more than Rs 99,000 crore with leading private companies.

MOUs were signed during the two-day National Stakeholders Consultation 2026, held in New Delhi  on Thursday. The investment commitments were led by Jindal Steel Ltd., which proposed an investment of Rs 40,000 crore, and Jindal Nuclear Power Pvt. Ltd., which committed Rs 30,000 crore.

Jindal Steel and Power Limited Chairman Naveen Jindal said in a video message, “A landmark day for Jharkhand and for the Jindal Group. Today, we signed an MoU with the Government of Jharkhand for an investment of over Rs 70,000 crore across steel, nuclear energy, and renewable energy. This reflects our confidence in Jharkhand’s future and its people. Rs 40,000 crore in steel, Rs 30,000 crore in nuclear energy, and Rs 650 crore in solar. Together, this means more than 11,000 direct jobs and thousands more across allied sectors. Grateful to Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren Ji and the Government of Jharkhand for their trust. Together, we build. Jai Johar! Jai Hind!”

Vice Chairman, JSPL, VR Sharma said, “Jharkhand will have the first private nuclear power plant. A roadmap for a Rs 71,000 crore investment is ready.”

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said, "Our thinking is not short-term, but focused on long-term Partnerships. We have laid out our policies, priorities, and targets before you. Now, our responsibility is to implement all these initiatives on the ground with time-bound execution. I urge all Departments to ensure that every commitment is fulfilled within the stipulated timeframe.  Partners from the Jindal Group, Tata Group, Varun Beverages, Google, EaseMyTrip, and others have joined us in areas such as green steel, renewable energy, nuclear energy, food processing, AI, and digital governance. We must leverage their experience, technology, research, and innovation to take Jharkhand to new heights. On Wednesday, I said that we must move from mines to minds. A day after, we are witnessing a glimpse of that. Our goal is not just to make agreements, but to transform them into achievements. Not just to formulate policies, but to forge new possibilities."

"I believe we need to strengthen communication and coordination even further. The government will work as a strong partner between your needs and the state's people's aspirations. Together, we will write a new story of Jharkhand's Inclusive growth and sustainable development. The soul of Jharkhand resides in our tribal society. I have been informed that the relevant JIADA Regulations provide for a 25 percent  concession for the tribal community. I direct the department to review this and seriously consider increasing the concession up to 50 percent to further strengthen the participation of tribal entrepreneurs. Let us all come together and walk this journey to make Jharkhand an investment destination, an innovation hub, and a future-ready state," he added.

Under the MOU between Google LLC and the state government, AI and cloud technology will be promoted. This will provide new momentum to technological development in areas like data centre modernisation, education, health, traffic management, and capacity building.

Speaking on the occasion, chief minister Hemant Soren said, “The vision for the overall development of any state or country is long-term, not short-term, and we are moving forward with this very vision. Officers must ensure that every scheme is implemented on the ground within a definite time frame."

He said that due to a lack of better communication in the past, Jharkhand's capabilities had not been fully presented to the world. The government will now bridge this gap and maintain continuous dialogue with domestic and international investors, he added.

“The vision for the overall development of any state or country is not for a short term, but for a long term, and we are moving forward with this very vision. Officers should ensure that every scheme is implemented on the ground within a definite time frame,” he added.
