Raipur: Opposition's joint Presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha criticized the present ruling government at the Centre in strong words in Raipur on Friday and said, “the country doesn’t need a tongue tied President”.

While addressing a press conference in the Chhattisgarh’s state capital Raipur, Sinha said, “The post of President is of great dignity. It would have been better if everyone had one opinion and had chosen someone one by one. This responsibility lies with the ruling party, but the initiative was not taken by the ruling party”.

In the society, brotherhood, communal harmony, trust, peace, security was being continuously compromised or getting replaced by fear, communalism, violence, hatred, in short, the reputation of the nation is at stake globally and domestically. In such a situation we require a President who will discharge his or her constitutional obligations honestly and actively. We don’t want a silent president, Sinha said.

I am standing in this Presidential election because I feel that I can discharge these responsibilities effectively, he said.

Sinha said, he has full hopes that he will get 100 percent votes in Kerala, Chennai and sure about Chhattisgarh because he was son in law of Bhilai and got married to a Bhilai girl, he further added.

When the presidential candidate was making his speech Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel was present at the stage.
