New Delhi: In a shocking development, Tahawwur Husasin Rana, one of the key conspirators of the 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai, has admitted that he was present during the carnage and that he was a trusted agent of the Pakistani army, as per a report by India Today.

Rana, who is currently in the NIA custody at Delhi's Tihar Jail, reportedly made these revelations during an interrogation conducted by the Mumbai Crime Branch.

The Pakistani-origin Canadian national also claimed that he, along with his longtime associate David Headley, had undergone multiple training sessions with Lashkar-e-Taiba in Pakistan, as per the report.

Planned Immigration Centre as Cover, Visited Attack Sites

As per the report, Rana told investigators that the decision to open an immigration centre for his firm in Mumbai was entirely his own and that related financial transactions were disguised as business expenses. He also admitted that this front was used to aid the terror operation.

He further said that he had visited locations such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus before the attacks, hinting at a detailed surveillance work. Rana reportedly believes that the attacks were carried out in coordination with Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI.

In another revelation, the 64-year-old said that he had earlier been deployed by the Pakistani army to Saudi Arabia during the Khaleej War.

Mumbai Police Prepare to Take Custody

Following the interrogation, the Mumbai Police is now preparing to formally arrest Rana and take him into their custody for further questioning. He is currently under judicial custody, which was extended last month until July 9 by a Delhi court.

Rana was extradited to India earlier this year after the US Supreme Court dismissed his review petition on April 4. He faces charges under multiple sections, including conspiracy, murder, commission of a terrorist act and forgery.

The 26/11 Mumbai attacks left 166 people dead in a 60-hour siege that targeted iconic sites of India's economic capital, including the Taj and Oberoi hotels, CST station, and Nariman House.
