Rana Extradited from America to India | |

Tahawwur Rana, the accused mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, has finally been brought to India from the United States. This move came after the U.S. authorities gave permission for his extradition. Once he landed in India, he was taken to Delhi’s Patiala House Court. There, the court sent him to the custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for 18 days.

Special Jet Used for High Security

Rana was brought to India on a special private plane for security reasons. The Indian government used a Gulfstream G550 Jet, which is a high-tech, long-range business jet. This kind of plane is often used for VIPs and top security operations. The plane can carry up to 19 passengers and can fly a distance of around 12,000 km non-stop.

The Cost of the Operation

This high-security extradition was not a cheap operation. According to media reports, the flight from Miami, USA to India cost the Indian government around Rs 4 crores. The journey took about 40 hours, which means the cost per hour was Rs 10 lakhs.

Security Team Sent to USA

Three senior officers from NIA were sent to the U.S. to bring Rana. Along with them, a team of NSG (National Security Guard) commandos also accompanied the officials. However, the number of commandos is not revealed for security reasons. All together, the total operation cost more than Rs 4 crores.

Why This Was Important

Bringing Rana to India is a major step for the 26/11 case. He is believed to have key information related to the planning and execution of the terrorist attack. Indian authorities consider him very important for the investigation and future legal action.
