The BJP-led central government has written a letter to West Bengal Chief Secretary Alapan Bandhopadhyay asking him to join the Department of Personnel and Training under the Government of India by May 31.

In the letter, the West Bengal Chief Secretary is asked to join the Department of Personnel and Training, North Block by 10 am on Monday.

Talking to Free Press Journal, TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said that during the pandemic the BJP is indulging in ‘revenge’ politics with the ruling Trinamool Congress.

“The BJP cannot take their poll debacle despite the heavyweight leaders visiting the state every day. Breaking the federal structure, the BJP is taking revenge during COVID and Yaas. Both Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Alapan Bandhopadhyay had lost their brother to COVID, despite that both of them are tirelessly working to serve people amidst odds. BJP is anti-people and this proves it,” claimed Kunal adding that the BJP-led central government is destroying West Bengal.

West Bengal BJP general secretary Sayantan Basu said that it is a decision of the Central Government.

“Alapan Bandhopadhyay was supposed to retire soon. Now due to the transfer he can work with the Government of India. There is no politics involved in such a decision,” stated Sayantan.

Earlier, the Trinamool Congress government had asked for a three-month extension for the chief secretary to fight the ongoing pandemic.

Notably, earlier this day, Alapan who was with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and was a part of aerial review didn’t attend the review meeting of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi but visited him along with the Chief Minister to handover the primary report of loss due to Cyclone Yaas.

Notably, the Prime Minister had to wait for half-an-hour for Mamata and Alapan to attend the meet at Kalaikunda.
