A disturbing video has surfaced on social media showing a man being hanged upside down from an iron pipe in the basement of a building whilst a group of 5-6 men beat him with sticks. In the video, the man can be heard pleading with his assailants for mercy.

According to reports, the video came to light after the accused contractor, who is allegedly closely associated with one of the ministers in the state, himself made the video go viral. Initially, police did not take any action on the victim's complaint. However, after the video went viral, police registered a case at Sector 10 Police Station and arrested four suspects involved in the torture.

The victim hails from Rajasthan and worked as a JCB driver at a construction site. He was tortured over accusations of wire theft.

Gurugram Police in a statement said that a video came to notice through social media showing some people beating up an individual. The police have not received any complaint regarding this matter so far, nor has any victim approached the police. However, considering the seriousness of the case, Gurugram Police have taken cognisance of the viral video and registered an FIR.

The police team took immediate action in the matter and arrested four accused from Basai Enclave, Gurugram.

According to police, the incident occurred on the intervening night of 11th and 12th June this year. All the accused work as security guards at a society under construction, whilst the victim also worked there as a JCB operator. The accused assaulted him, alleging that he had stolen electrical wires.

Meanwhile, claims are being made on social media regarding this case that the labourer had complained to the police about being tortured, but no action was taken on it, nor was an FIR registered. Instead, the complainant was intimidated and silenced. This is because the person carrying out the torture is close to a minister in Haryana. Due to political pressure, the police took no action. According to sources, the contractor also claims to be close to a central minister from Haryana and asserts that his wife is a lawyer in the High Court. He was continuously threatening the victim. He also tried to hush up the matter.
