Meerut: Ahead of EID 2025, Meerut police has imposed strict restrictions on offering Namaz on the roads. Meerut SP, Vipin Tada said on Wednesday, "We have appealed to Muslim clergies and religious leaders to ask people to offer Namaz at their nearest mosques or Eidgahs.
He further said, "Under no circumstances offering Namaz on the roads will not be permitted."
"Last year also around 200 people were booked for offering Namaz on the roads," he added.
"This year also, with the help of drone surveillance, CCTV and local intelligence we will monitor and if anybody offers Namaz on the roads a case will be filed," he said.
He further said, "If a case is filed the passport and licenses will be confiscated till the time they do not get clean chit from the court."
The police also said, additional forces have been deployed in sensitive areas to ensure law and order is maintained.
When EID Will Be Celebrated In India?
According to the central government's holiday calendar, Eid al-Fitr in 2025 falls on March 31 (Monday) and is recognised as a gazetted holiday in India. However, the exact date of celebrations will depend on the sighting of the crescent moon.
