Dehradun: The Uttarakhand Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, on Wednesday approved several important decisions related to public welfare, rural economy, labour welfare, education, judicial infrastructure, sports, tourism, drinking water and industrial development. The decisions were announced by Director General Information and Additional Secretary to the Chief Minister Banshidhar Tiwari during a press briefing.
The Cabinet expanded the scope of the state sector cow rearing scheme by including livestock farmers from the general category. Beneficiaries will now have the option to purchase buffaloes along with cows.
The unit cost of animals has been increased from ₹40,000 to ₹60,000. Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe beneficiaries will receive up to 90 per cent subsidy, while general category beneficiaries will get up to 60 per cent subsidy.
The scheme is expected to benefit around 2,128 livestock farmers in the first year and support rural economy, self-employment generation and efforts to prevent migration.
The Cabinet approved the implementation of the Uttarakhand Wage Code Rules, 2026 under the Code on Wages, 2019.
The rules include provisions related to minimum wages, double payment for overtime work, payment of salaries by the seventh day of every month, digital payment systems and equal wages for men and women for equal work.
The Cabinet approved the implementation of new operating rules for hostels run under the Social Welfare Department.
The Uttarakhand Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Hostel Management Rules, 2026 aim to provide meritorious students from these communities with better educational environments, accommodation, food facilities and opportunities for overall development.
The structure of the High-Powered Committee (HPC) constituted for promoting eco-tourism has been revised.
