Dehradun, July 07: A review meeting regarding schemes related to skill development and employment was held at the Secretariat on Friday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Shri Anand Bardhan. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on various schemes related to skill development, training programmes, employment and placement status, and the upcoming action plan.
The Chief Secretary said that skill development programmes should be designed according to the current and future requirements of industries. He also directed that quality training should be provided in accordance with the interests of youth and local employment requirements, and that trained youth should be connected with employment and self-employment opportunities.
The Chief Secretary said that all departments related to skill development should work on a single platform so that youth can benefit from it. He directed the Secretary, Skill Development, to prepare a dashboard for making the state a skill hub, while taking the opinion of the Setu Aayog and involving all stakeholders.
Secretary, Skill Development and Employment, Shri C. Ravishankar informed that for comprehensive skill development, ITIs are to be upgraded according to industry standards with the cooperation of schools, higher education, technical education, and medical education sectors. He informed that currently 119 ITIs are operational. Ninety ITIs have already been mapped on the portal. Tata Technologies has started short-term training courses in ITIs.

The Secretary informed that discussions have been held with three agencies to provide training as per global standards, language knowledge, and other essential skills at Skill India International Centres to help youth get employment opportunities abroad. He further informed that registration of private employers is also being carried out on the Rojgar Prayag portal. So far, a total of 162 employers have been added to the portal, and youth are being provided employment opportunities.
Senior officials of the Employment Department were also present in the meeting.
