Delhi reported 576 new cases , 103 deaths, and 1,287 recoveries in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate in the capital was 0.78 per cent, which makes this the third consecutive day that the positivity rate remained below 1%.
On Tuesday, the Covid-19 test positivity rate dipped below 1% for the second day in a row, as 623 fresh cases were reported. The positivity rate came down to 0.88% from 0.99% the previous day.
Senior officials cited the lockdown and a growing sense of fear among the people regarding the virus as the primary causes for the decline.
Earlier this week, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) had extended lockdown measures in Delhi till June 7. With the exception of construction and manufacturing units, all other services including the Delhi Metro, liquor bars and restaurants are to remain shut till the end of the period.
The notification issued a day after Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced gradual unlocking of Delhi, also stated that the movement of workers or employees will be allowed only if they posses an e-pass.
The active COVID-19 caseload India has shown a steady decline, with 1,32,788 new cases and 2,31,456 discharges being reported earlier today. The test positivity rate has also dropped to 6.57 per cent. However, it continues to be the second worst-hit nation.
The states most affected by the virus by total cases are Maharashtra (5,761,015 ), Karnataka (2,618,735), Kerala (2,546,339), Tamil Nadu (2,123,029), and Andhra Pradesh (1,704,388).
