Chandigarh: Punjab Congress leader Navjot Sidhu, who visited the parents of slain singer Sidhu Moosewala in Mansa district on Monday, slammed Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party government over prevailing law and order situation in the state.
Sidhu attacks APP govt
Addressing the media, Sidhu lashed out at the AAP government, saying the singer, a shining star, was shot dead in Mansa on May 29, 2022, a day after his security was pruned.
He asked the dispensation as to why the information about the pruning of Sidhu Moosewala’s security was made public. “The same thing is also happening with me now, though I do not care if they want to silence my voice too like Sidhu Moosewala, for, I would continue to speak the truth,” he said.
Notably, Moosewala had joined Congress in December 2021 — when Sidhu was the state Congress chief — and had also unsuccessfully contested February 2022 assembly election from Mansa seat on the Congress ticket.
"...somebody else was pulling the strings"
Speaking on the singer's killing, Sidhu said the gangsters lodged in the jails were just pawns and somebody else was pulling the strings. He claimed there seemed to be a conspiracy to show Punjab in poor light and impose the President’s rule in the state.
Balkaur Singh, father of the slain singer, who also addressed the media bemoaned absence of any action in the case of an interview to a news channel by gangster Lawrence Bishnoi from inside a jail about 20 days ago.
