Chhattisgarh: Rahul Gandhi to lay foundation stone of 'Amar Jawan Jyoti' in Raipur on February 3

Raipur (Chhattisgarh): Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel announced on Saturday that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will lay the foundation stone of an 'Amar Jawan Jyoti' in Chhattisgarh's Raipur on Thursday.

After the Amar Jawan Jyoti was merged with the eternal flame at the National War Memorial, the Baghel government decided to rekindle it in Raipur. With the decision, it will again reignite the politics over Amar Jawan Jyoti, in the context of current elections.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said, in the memory of the martyrs the Amar Jawan Jyoti will be re-established at the premises of the fourth Battalion of Chhattisgarh Armed Forces, situated in Mana, Raipur on the third of February.

Indra Gandhi had established the Amar Jawan Jyoti in the memory of martyrs who laid their lives for India, but the Mafiveers would not understand these values, he added.

On the Martyr Day of Mahatma Gandhi, the Chhattisgarh Police band also played the song #AbideWithMe and other songs liked by Mahatma Gandhi, Baghel tweeted.

Congress said the Amar Jawan Jyoti will be re-establish in the memory of the Jawans who martyred their lives in the service of the nation including the armed forces jawan who died while battling with the Maoists.

BJP swiftly responded to the statement made by CM Baghel.

CM Baghel is an ardent follower of Prime Minister Modi, whatever the step PM initiates he wants to copy him, Former Minister and senior BJP leader Brijmohan Agarwal said.

CM Baghel is just doing politics over the issue, he added.

Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson GS Shrivas said, CM Baghel wants to increase his number before Rahul Gandhi.

If the CM really cared for jawans, he would have already built a memorial for them and provided better facilities, unfortunately, the system is mistreating the families of jawans, lodging FIR against them, Shrivas said.
