Rajkot: Former Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara’s brother-in-law, Jeet Rasikbhai Pabari, was found dead at his residence in Gujarat’s Rajkot on Wednesday in what the police believe was a suicide. According to police records, an FIR had been filed exactly one year earlier, on 26 November 2024, by Pabari’s former fiancee at Malviya Nagar Police Station.
She had accused him of forcing physical relations under the promise of marriage and claimed that their engagement was subsequently called off because of the incident.
Exactly one year later, on 26 November 2025, Pabari was found dead. At the time of the incident, Pujara was doing commentary for the India vs South Africa Test match in Assam.
Reportedly, Jeet attempted suicide by hanging himself at his home in Rajkot. Neighbours rushed to the scene after hearing a commotion and took him to the hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The Malviya Nagar police have launched a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the suicide.
The incident has left Cheteshwar Pujara’s wife, Pooja Pujara, and the entire family in deep grief.
The family is originally from Jamjodhpur but has settled in Rajkot for more than two decades. Jeet’s father, Rasikbhai Pabari, is a cotton ginning factory owner.
