As the cases rose again in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, the Chennai Corporation made wearing masks mandatory in all public places.
Issuing an order, the Greater Chennai Corporation said Tuesday that wearing masks is mandatory in Chennai effective tomorrow, and the violators will be fined Rs. 500 if caught.
Looking at the increasing numbers, some guidelines have also been issued in Chennai.
Tamil Nadu had recorded 2,672 fresh infections on Sunday, while 2,385 cases on Saturday, as per the data provided by the state health department.
Chennai accounted for the most number of new cases with 1,025, followed by Chengalpattu 369, Tiruvallur 121 and Coimbatore 118.
