Jaipur: Making a harsh comment on former Union Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar, former CM of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot has called him a Sirfira. He said that Aiyar's statement about former PM Rajiv Gandhi failed is height of frustration.

'Who passes or fails in which college, has hardly any connection with becoming a Chief Minister or Prime Minister. His statements about Pakistan and Rajiv Gandhi are the height of frustration. Only a lunatic can say such a thing about Rajiv Gandhi, who made India proud all over the world,' said Gehlot to the media in Jaipur on Thursday.

Gehlot said that Rajiv Gandhi became a martyr for the country. Expressing such views about him is condemnable.

Recalling his meeting with Aiyar, The former CM said - It is beyond understanding, what kind of statement he is making. I met him (Mani Shankar Aiyar) 30–35 years ago. When Rajiv Gandhi was the Prime Minister. At that time, he was considered close to Rajiv Gandhi and an intellectual as well, but now he is keeping India and Pakistan at par, and supporting Pakistan's policy.

Notably, Mani Shankar had raised questions on former PM Rajiv Gandhi's education. He allegedly had said in an interview- 'When Rajiv became the Prime Minister, I thought he was an airline pilot. He has failed twice, how can such a person become the Prime Minister.'
