Kolkata: TMC national secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Wednesday inaugurated a party office in Meghalaya's Shillong.
Banerjee along with Meghalaya TMC leaders including party’s state president Charles Pyngrope, AITC Legislature party leader Dr Mukul Sangma and AITC Meghalaya in-charge Dr Manas Ranjan Bhunia also launched a pan-state membership drive during a state party workers’ meeting and asked the people of Meghalaya to support TMC to oust the NPP Government which is a proxy government run by the BJP.
Speaking about TMC’s plan for Meghalaya, Banerjee said, ““Trinamool is the only party that knows how to take the BJP head-on. We are the only ones who know how to show Amit Shah his place. And that’s why we have come here, to defeat divisive forces.”
Slamming Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, the TMC national secretary said, “Have you seen the body language of the CM when he meets BJP top brass in Delhi? He is an elected chief minister representing 35 lakh Meghalayans, carrying their hopes and aspirations. Should he bow down to the BJP leaders? Is this why Meghalaya voted for him? If the answer is no, please support TMC.”
Banerjee also mentioned that the only vision of TMC is to save Meghalaya from the divisive politics of the proxy BJP Government.
