Actor and music composer GV Prakash ended his 10-year-long marriage with singer Saindhavi in May last year, and since then, rumours have been doing the rounds that the former's closeness with his co-star Divya Bharathi was the reason behind the divorce. And now, Divya has finally ended her silence, slamming the reports, and asking netizens to not indulge in baseless chatter.
Divya took to her Instagram stories on Tuesday and wrote, "My name has been dragged into a personal family matter that has absolutely nothing to do with me. I have no connection to GV's family issues. To be blunt, I would never date an actor, and certainly not a married man."
She went on to say, "I've remained silent until now, believing baseless rumours didn't warrant my attention. However, this has crossed a line. I refuse to let my reputation be tarnished by unfounded allegations. I am a strong, independent woman, and I will not be defined by gossip. Let's focus on building a better world instead of spreading negativity. Respect my boundaries. This is my first and final statement on this matter. Thank you!"
Speculations of the two actors growing close first surfaced after they acted in the 2021 film Bachelor together. However, they time and again denied the rumours and maintained that they were good friends.
However, when Prakash and Saindhavi headed for divorce, netizens targetted Divya and she said in an interview that she was being "unfairly blamed".
On the other hand, post their divorce announcement in 2024, Saindhavi had clarified that it was a mutual decision and there were no external factors involved. She also stated that randomly assassinating someone's character baselessly was unacceptable.
