Sujoy Ghosh has reportedly exited as the director of Shah Rukh Khan's much-anticipated film King, which also features Suhana Khan in a prominent role. Amid this, rumours have surfaced about Sujoy collaborating with Shahid Kapoor for an upcoming thriller, and now Shahid's team has reacted to the news.
According to Mid-Day, an insider stated that Shahid was interested in the script, but the timing didn’t work out. Now, both Shahid and Sujoy Ghosh are prioritising aligning their schedules to bring the project to life. If things work out, this will mark the actor and the director's first on-screen collaboration.
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh's King will now be helmed by his Pathaan director Siddharth Anand. According to Pinkvilla, "Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand is among the biggest combination for Hindi Cinema, and are all set for a reunion on King. The prep work for this action-packed entertainer is underway for the last 6 months, as Siddharth Anand and his team have done multiple rounds of recce all across the globe and also designed path-breaking action sequences with stunt directors of international repute. King is all set to go on floors in March 2025...The film is written by Sujoy Ghosh with Siddharth Anand, Suresh Nair and Sagar Pandya."
An official confirmation is awaited as of now.
On Shahid's work front, he will be seen next in Deva alongside Pooja Hegde in the lead. Helmed by the renowned Malayalam filmmaker Rosshan Andrrews.
Shahid also has Ashwatthama: The Saga Continues, produced by Vashu and Jackky Bhagnani. However, there are rumours that the project has been stalled amid Pooja Entertainment 'debt' issues.
He was last seen in the romantic comedy Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, starring Kriti Sanon. The film was released in February 2024.
