Ever since actor Kirti Kulhari made her full commercial debut in 2016 with Pink, she has been breaking that old-age trope of Bollywood, which stereotyped women with one dimensional image. She intentionally chose the roles that showed the real empowered woman and not the one who is either a perfect homemaker or a businesswoman following her ambitions.

Whether it is Uri: The Surgical Strike, Indu Sarkar or her recent web series Four More Shots Please! Kirti chose to play multi-faceted characters. And now, with Shaadisthan which was released on an OTT platform last week. She plays Sasha, a musician in a band which is headed for a wedding in Rajasthan, where a girl is forced to get married, and what unfolds during the journey are conventional and independent modern ideologies. While the film is already streaming, Kirti feels it will help in changing many mind-sets around forced marriage.

“The film will at least help many girls who are forced into marriage to stand up and speak for themselves. They need to have clarity if they are interested or not. It is very personal what you take from anything,” begins the actress.

Although Kirti has her share of big screen success with Indu Sarkar and Mission Mangal among many other films prior to Pink, she also had a great run on OTT after Four More Shots Please!. And hence, she didn’t feel insecure about Shaadisthan’s release on a streaming platform.

“OTT has brought in a balancing act. Nothing can replace going to a theatre and watching a film on the big screen. We are sure it’s a matter of time and what matters is the content that’s going on OTT and it’s good. OTT is the king now and everyone is adapting to it which is the need of the hour- adapting, reinventing yourself is the only way to survive. I’m all for it,” she opines, and confirms that the most anticipated season 3 of Four More Shots Please! has been pushed, “But it’s very much on its way.”

When asked if she would also be inclined to do TV or reality shows, the Pink star responds in negative. But she wishes to be a part of a reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi hosted by filmmaker Rohit Shetty or host a reality show. “I don’t wish to do TV at all. It doesn’t interest me. Reality shows allure me, maybe Khatron Ke Khiladi or being a host to a music show. Undeniably, TV continues to be a big No,” she expresses.

So far Kirti has been celebrating her professional life after back to back hits and will next be seen in a web series called Human where she will be seen alongside Shefali Shah. The actress reveals that she does not take stress about anything and she has become a stronger person.

“I don’t know over the years I have become somebody like if I feel low, I can come out of it soon. I don’t see anything as the end of the World. My attitude is, if something is coming to an end then there is definitely an opening for something fresh,” shares the actress, who prefers exploring new places to unwind.

“I have been travelling every month. It’s a big unwinding. I just got back from Serbia and went to Europe. I went for a trek last month to Uttrakhand. I love being in my space at home, watching movies,” she says before signing off.
