Filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra are all set to bring the tale of Ramayana on the silver screens on a magnanimous scale, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. And if reports are to be believed, the film did not materialise in a day, but the duo worked on it for almost 10 years, to make sure everything was done right.
According to information shared by the official handle of Ramayana, Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra spent 10 years for pre-production work of the film, including scripting, screenplay, dialogues, and other aspects.
Not just that, but they also consulted pandits, and thoroughly studied and researched ancient Vashisht Yoga Shastras to make sure there were no mistakes or discrepancies in the script of the high-stakes film.

With Ramayana, the director-producer duo aims to showcase the epic story on the silver screen and make it relatable to today's youth, while also keeping it rooted to ancient culture.
Ramayana will be released in two parts, and the first part will release on Diwali 2026, and the second part, a year later, on Diwali 2027. Besides Ranbir, Sai Pallavi and Yash, the film will also feature Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, Arun Govil as Dasharath, Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha, among other actors.
Kunal Kapoor, Sheeba Chadha, Amitabh Bachchan, Lara Dutta, Adinath Kothare, and others will be seen playing small yet significant roles.
Ramayana is being reportedly made on a budget of over Rs 4000 crore, with Ranbir taking home Rs 150 crore for both parts combined.
