Mumbai: Mumbai Police’s Crime Branch has arrested a 25-year-old man from Rajasthan who, on his YouTube channel ‘Are Chhodo Yar’, discussed the Bishnoi Gang and plans to kill Salman Khan. The accused was brought to Mumbai on Sunday afternoon.

According to crime branch officials, the youth Banwarilal Laturlal Gujar - from Boarda village Fazalpura, Hingoli, District Bundi in Rajasthan - uploaded a video in his channel mentioned above where he declared saying all the gang members of Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldy Bar were with him, and he will be killing Salman Khan as he did not apologize. Gujar shot this video on his phone at a random highway in Rajasthan and soon after he uploaded it, the video gathered traction due to its content.

When the Mumbai Police officials came across this video, they traced the video’s creator and a team was dispatched to Rajasthan to apprehend Gujar who was brought to Mumbai on Sunday afternoon. After arresting Gujar from Rajasthan, police, here, registered a complaint against him at South Cyber Police station under sections 506 (2) (criminal intimidation with death threat), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 66 (d) (cheating by personation by using computer resource) of the Information Technology Act.

Gujar’s criminal history is still unclear, and the efforts are to check his background to know the motive behind his actions and if his claims, as per the video, are real or simply a publicity stunt.

On April 14, two men on a motorbike fired multiple rounds outside Salman Khan’s residence in Bandra. Police after registering a case arrested six individuals out of one, Anuj Thapan, who allegedly committed suicide in a police lockup on May 1.

Meanwhile, the Navi Mumbai police arrested five others, including members of the Bishnoi and Goldy Brar gangs - from Haryana - in connection with the same case. As per Navi Mumbai police, after firing at Khan’s house in Bandra, a second attempt to attack him was planned at his Panvel farmhouse.

In the FIR, the names of Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol have also been mentioned. Bishnoi is currently lodged in Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Central Prison and police are likely to seek his custody for interrogation.
