Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana is undoubtedly one of the most awaited films of the year. The movie stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Raavan, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. The movie already has a great star cast, and now, according to a report in Times Of India, Kajal Aggarwal has been roped in to play the role of Raavan's wife, Mandodari, in the movie.
A source told TOI, "Kajal just did her look test last week, and will be playing the character of Mandodari opposite Yash. She has started shooting for the bit recently. The makers are currently shooting Ravana's Lanka bits."
Sakshi Tanwar As Mandodari In Ramayana?
Earlier, there were reports that Sakshi Tanwar, who has worked with Tiwari in Dangal, was supposed to play the role of Mandodari, but now, the report suggests that it is Kajal. Well, we can just wait for an official announcement from the makers.
Ramayana Release Date
Ramayana will be released in two parts. The first part will ht the big screens on Diwali 2026, and the second part is slated to release on Diwali 2027. Apart from Ranbir, Sai, Yash, Sunny, and Kajal (reportedly), Ramayana also stars Ravi Dubey (Laxman) and Lara Dutta (Kaikeyi).
Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Praised Ramayana
During Waves 2025, while talking to writer-producer, Namit Malhotra, Maharashtra's Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, had praised Ramayana. He said, "When I visited your pavilion with Honourable Prime Minister, I was amazed to see the quality of Ramayana which you are creating. I think that is the way we need to tell our stories to our new generation, and I think with what you are setting up will be the best in the globe.”
