Actress Hina Khan recently took to social media to express her admiration for actor-singer Gippy Grewal, praising his efforts in strengthening the bond between the Punjabi film industry and Bollywood. Gippy's upcoming action film Akaal is set to make history as the first Punjabi movie to be released in Hindi in cinemas worldwide.
The Hindi version of the film is being presented by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, marking the filmmaker's debut in Punjabi cinema.
On Friday (March 21), Hina shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, offering a glimpse into her special bond with Gippy and his family. Posting pictures from a recent get-together at a restaurant, she expressed her gratitude for their support during her health struggles.
The Kasautii Zindagii Kay actress specifically thanked Gippy’s wife, Ravneet Grewal, for her constant concern and prayers before Hina’s surgery.

"Met with my extended family, who has always been there… Gippy, you are a pure soul with a golden heart. Especially YOU, my darling Rav @ravneetgrewalofficial! From the moment you learned about my diagnosis, you never stopped checking up on me. I will never forget the special 'Path' and 'Ardaas' you kept for me right before my surgery. I am beyond grateful," Hina wrote.
She also lauded Gippy for his efforts in taking Punjabi cinema to new heights. "Big, big congratulations @gippygrewal for connecting the Punjabi film industry with Bollywood in the BIGGEST way possible. Best wishes for Akaal! Tusi toh chaa gaye! Lots of love always."
Gippy Grewal is not only starring in Akaal but has also taken on the roles of director and writer. The film also features Nimrat Khaira, Apinderdeep Singh, Mita Vashisht, Prince Kanwaljit Singh, Nikitin Dheer, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Shinda Grewal, Ekom Grewal, and Jaggi Singh.
Releasing in cinemas on April 10, 2025, Akaal is poised to be a game-changer for Punjabi cinema.
