A few days ago, a video from the sets of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai went viral in which Varun Dhawan was seen dancing with Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde on the recreated version of the song Chunnari Chunnari from Biwi No. 1. The original song was composed by Anu Malik and sung by Abhijeet Bhattacharya and Anuradha Sriram. Recently, while talking to HT City, Abhijeet reacted to the song being recreated. He stated that he has no idea about it, and the makers don’t have himmat to inform him.
The singer said, “Mujhe music composer, film ke director kisi ne nahi bataya ki iss song ko remake kiya jaa raha hai. Himmat bhi nahi kar sakte batane ki (Neither the music composer nor the film director told me that this song is being remade. They don’t even have the courage to tell me).”
Abhijeet Says Chunnai Chunnari Was Not A Great Song
Abhijeet further stated that Chunari Chunari was never his favourite. He stated that it wasn’t a great song, and it was a track where makers just wanted the lyrics to become hit.
However, the singer added that it has become iconic among fans. He said, “For the past 25 years I have heard it being played at functions, parties, and would always think ‘What is it about the song, there was nothing that I remember from the time I sang it?’ But I do realise it has become iconic for fans.”
When further asked about the song being reimagined, the singer said, “Mujhe farak nahi padhta itni chhoti cheez se. I don’t get involved much. In the market, copies are sold more than the original. Only great people know the value of the original. Tuchhi cheez mein main padhta hi nahi hoon.”
Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai Release Date
Directed by David Dhawan, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai was slated to release in October this year. But, the release date has been pushed to April 2026.
