Actress Esha Gupta opened up about her fallout with director Sajid Khan on the sets of her 2014 film Humshakals, revealing that she does not tolerate disrespect. She shared that Sajid abused her without any reason, which didn't sit well with her, and she responded by abusing him back. Esha said that the environment on the film's set was unpleasant. She added that after her fight with Sajid, they were never on the same page, and things were never the same between them.
Appearing on Siddharth Kannan's podcast, the actress shared, "I don't like people abusing me. Unhone mujhe gaali di, maine bhi di. Kuch log soch te nahi hain, frustrated hote hain. He was frustrated for a lot of reasons. Humne promote phir achhe se kiya. It got okay, but you don't feel the same love and admiration for the person. Log apni izzat apne aap hi gawa dete hain. I walked out of the set and went home. I sat in the car in the same clothes and went. I did not stay."
Furthermore, Esha stated that, according to her, she had left the film. However, it was the producer, Vashu Bhagnani, and the associate producer who called and apologised. Eventually, the actress revealed that even Sajid apologised to her for his behaviour, but in her mind, she hadn’t accepted his apology.
She added, "I was cordial enough, ki humari film achhi jaye. Lekin jab humne screening pe film dekhi, Ram (Kapoor) ke bharose bhi nahi chhod sakte film (laughs)."
