Superstar Rajinikanth has once again proven his box office might, as his latest film Coolie continues its record-breaking run. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Sun Pictures, the action-packed entertainer earned an estimated Ra 53.50 crore in India (all languages) on its second day of release (August 15) taking its total to a staggering Rs 118.50 crore in just two days.

According to Sacnilk, on its opening day, Coolie delivered a thunderous start with Rs 65 crore collections, making it one of the biggest Indian openers of 2025. While day two saw a slight dip, the numbers remained exceptionally strong, thanks to the Independence Day holiday boost.
The film’s Tamil version led the charge, clocking an overall occupancy of 80.70 per cent on Friday. Morning shows recorded 63.86 per cent turnout, while afternoon and evening shows soared to 86.25 per cent and 86.37 per cent, respectively. Night shows held steady at 86.33 per cent, reflecting massive demand across Tamil Nadu.
In Telugu states, the movie registered an impressive 85.42 per cent occupancy, while the Hindi version maintained a decent 54.60 per cent occupancy, showing Rajinikanth’s pan-India appeal.
In the much-hyped box office clash, Coolie managed to edge past Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani’s War 2. While War 2 earned Rs 56.5 crore on its second day, its total stands at Rs 108 crore, nearly Ra 10 crore behind Coolie. The clash of these two mega-films has created a festival-like atmosphere at cinemas, with fans thronging theatres nationwide.
Both films benefitted from the holiday advantage, and trade analysts expect the momentum to continue through the extended weekend, further fueled by Janmashtami on Saturday. Given its strong hold across South markets and healthy performance in the Hindi belt, Coolie is expected to lead the race in the coming days.
Coolie features a stellar ensemble cast including Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, and Aamir Khan in key roles. With power-packed performances, mass appeal, and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s stylish direction, the film is setting the box office ablaze, reaffirming Rajinikanth’s unmatched superstardom.
