Actress Anjana Sukhani, who starred as Akshay Kumar's on-screen sister, lawyer Richa Ahuja, in the 2019 film Good Newwz, recently expressed disappointment over being 'ignored' during the film's promotions. She shared that despite not being a lead character, she played an integral role, as her character was the one who pushed her brother to meet a reputed fertility specialist.
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Anjana said, "I don’t get it. If you have chosen an actor, every actor comes with a certain amount of credibility. Your credibility could be a hundred on hundred; mine would be 20 on 100. No problem with that, but use it. Akshay Kumar doesn’t need publicity; he is Akshay Kumar. But I need it. I am not Kareena Kapoor, so I need it. I need a little more push than somebody else."
Further, Anjana shared that Good Newwz came to her after she had been out of work for a year or two. While she didn’t expect the makers to promote her alongside the lead cast since the film revolved around two couples, she questioned being completely ignored during the promotions.
"I don’t understand the marketing strategy of people," she said.
Anjana revealed that she later reached out to Akshay, who was also a co-producer of Good Newwz, to express her concerns and asked him for help. "Your little push can help me so far, and nobody loses here. If I do five extra interviews, it won’t affect somebody’s stardom. It might just only help with selling extra tickets,'" she shared.
She shared that Akshay arranged a press meet for her at Dharma Productions’ office, where a few interviews were conducted for her.
