Haryanvi actress Anjali Raghav has withdrawn her complaint against Bhojpuri actor-singer Pawan Singh before the Haryana State Women's Commission after he issued a public apology. However, the case will continue against members of Singh’s social media team, who are now under investigation for allegedly circulating misleading content about the actress.
Complaint withdrawn after apology
According to media reports, officials confirmed on Thursday (April 2) that Anjali appeared before Commission chairperson Renu Bhatia in Faridabad and informed the panel that she no longer wished to pursue the case against Singh. The Bhojpuri star did not attend the hearing.
According to the Commission, Anjali’s decision came after Singh apologised publicly on social media regarding the controversy. Following her statement, the Commission removed his name from the case.
Allegations against social media team remain
Despite withdrawing the complaint against the actor, Anjali alleged that members of his social media team had circulated her photos and videos in a misleading manner after a stage show incident in Lucknow last year.
She further claimed that her mobile number and photographs were uploaded to pornographic websites, which caused her severe mental distress.
In her statement, Anjali reportedly named three members of Singh’s team, including Bhiwanshu and Akash, and sought strict action against them. The Commission has now added the three individuals to the case and asked them to submit their response.
The next hearing in the matter is scheduled for April 6 in Panchkula, where all those named in the case have been directed to appear in person.
What sparked the controversy
The controversy dates back to a promotional event held in Lucknow last year for Singh’s song Saiya Seva Kare, which also featured Anjali. In a video from the event that later went viral, Anjali, dressed in a saree, appeared uncomfortable when Singh placed his hand on her waist during the stage appearance.
Following the backlash online, the actress shared videos on Instagram saying she was “disturbed” by the incident and declared that she would “not work in the Bhojpuri industry anymore.”
Pawan Singh’s response
Responding to the controversy earlier, Singh addressed the issue through Instagram Stories and apologised publicly. He clarified, “I had no wrong intention towards you, as we are artists. Even then, if you were hurt by my behaviour, then I apologise.”
The actor had also stated that he felt “very bad” after learning about the matter and maintained that he never intended to disrespect his co-star.
