IISc Bangalore Announces Inaugural RSI-India Summer Research Programme For Class XI Students; Know Eligibility Criteria

Students currently enrolled in a high school program in India, who have completed Class X and are either enrolled in Class XI or have completed Class XI (and/or started Class XII), are eligible to apply for the Research Science Initiative-India (RSI-India), a distinguished summer research programme.

For the first session of the Research Science Initiative-India (RSI-India), a distinguished summer research program, applications are now being accepted at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore. Any high school student in India who is enrolled in Class XI (or who has finished Class XI and entered Class XII) may apply. The deadline for applications will be March 21, 2025. The Adani Group is sponsoring the six-week programme, which will take place at the IISc campus in Bengaluru from June 15 to July 26.

What Is The Eligibility Criteria?

- Students currently enrolled in a high school program in India, who have completed Class X and are either enrolled in Class XI or have completed Class XI (and/or started Class XII), are eligible to apply.

- Applicants must complete Class XI during the 6-week program.

- Applicants must be Indian citizens.

- Students apply individually; they are not nominated or selected by their schools.

- Applications will be evaluated by a distinguished selection committee from CEE and IISc, consisting of educators, academics, and scientists.

Selection Process And Programme Highlights

- 35 students will be chosen on the basis of academic performance, personal statements, examination scores, letters of recommendation, and school transcripts.

- The chosen students will be paired with IISc research mentors and will enage in coursework, hands-on research, and a final symposium in which they will present their findings.

- The programme also consists of the Palsamudram Lecture Series, which involves notable speakers.

- Social and networking events will be arranged to facilitate long-term collaborations amongst participants.

RSI-India inspired by the globally renowned Research Science Institute (RSI) at MIT, operated by the Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) since 1984. The programme aims to offer academically exceptional students an immersive STEM research experience, free of cost.
