An artificial intelligence (AI) company based in Bengaluru is creating a buzz on social media with its non-traditional recruitment process. Sudarshan Kamath, the founder of Smallest AI, recently posted a software engineering job vacancy with an annual pay package of Rs 40 lakh. What's different about this job posting is that applicants do not have to provide a resume or possess a certain educational qualification to apply, sparking widespread discussions online.

The compensation package comprises a basic salary of Rs 15-25 LPA, in addition to ESOPs (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) of Rs 10-15 LPA. The position is available for candidates with 0-2 years of experience, and the candidates need not possess a college degree. Unlike the typical resume, applicants are requested to send a 100-word self-introduction and links to their best work to an email address specified in the tweet. The role is located in the company's Indiranagar office and involves reporting there five days a week, with an expectation of joining immediately.

Sudarshan Kamath followed up with another tweet stating, "Just FYI. This is how we have always hired. Not sure why this one blew up. Most of our team doesn’t have a Tier-1 college background. But they’re some of the smartest folks I have ever met. We also have college dropouts and ex-entrepreneurs in the team. Brilliance can come from anywhere".

Internet reactions:

Kamath’s Unconventional Hiring Approach Sparks Online Debate with Over 4 Lakh Views

One user commented, "The only enticing thing here is Indiranagar, and college doesn’t matter."

Others shared concerns about the cost of living in Indiranagar, a location known for its high living expenses. "I saw this on LinkedIn too. Didn’t you find anyone decent there? RIP savings... it's such an expensive place," another user noted.

Another response read, "Amazingggg! This is how future recruitments will take place,"

A comment came from another user who made a bold observation about the tech industry's compensation trends: "0-2 years experience, 40 LPA, greedy cash-rich companies do not give that much for a 15-year experience candidate. Need more people like you."

The hiring post also drew attention from those who felt the compensation package wasn’t attractive enough. "It's not even a decent half-attractive package," one user remarked. "‘Cracked’ ‘full-stack’ ‘5 days at office’ deserves much more than 25L fixed and a bunch of promises."
