New Delhi: Delhi University (DU) has made it compulsory for its students who fail their practical exams to make extra classes mandatory. The students will have to retake classes for an entire semester before they can be cleared.
Under its modified assessment pattern, DU has decided to prioritise evaluations and tutorials.
“So another point was added to the existing rule: "... student, having failed to pass any practical examination of the university through Continuous Evaluation System will be eligible to seek re-admission only for re-appearing in the said practical examination through Continuing Evaluation System,” a DU official stated to PTI.
According to the official, though the resolution was accepted in December 2020, it came into effect from the 2022 to 2023 academic session at DU. The amendment to the assessment was thus essential considering DU adopted the new evaluation scheme in 2020.
Students need to attend and take classes for them to be eligible to clear their practical exams. They need to have a minimum of 66% attendance and if they are not able to maintain the number or fail the exam, the students will have to take admission again or clear the paper or course.
DU has modified its internal assessment and theoretical examination ratio to 30:70 and 45:55 respectively.
Activities conducted under the new method will be evaluated as for 30 marks for continuous assessment and 10 marks for internal assessment.
