Bengaluru: A shocking incident has come to light from Karnakata's Bengaluru, where a 19-year-old labourer from Bihar was raped by two men in the wee hours on Wednesday near the KR puram railway station. Both the accused have been nabbed by the police.
One accused has been identified as Ashif and the second accused - Syed Mushar. The rape survivour worked in Kerala's Kattappan town and she was returning home with her cousin after quitting the job when she and her cousin were assaulted.
According to the police, she took a ticket to Mangaluru but used the same ticket to reach Bengaluru. The rape survivour, accompanied by her cousin, arrived at KR Puram railway station around 1:13 AM, police said.
How The Incident Unfolded
On April 2 at 1.30 pm, a woman and her cousin were travelling to a restaurant for lunch, on the outskirts of Mahadevpur police station limits of outer ring road in Bengaluru, when two auto rickshaw drivers (Ashif and Syed Mushar) attacked the man and allegedly raped the woman.
After receiving the information, the police swung into action and arrested both accused. A case has been registered at Mahadevpur police station and further probe is underway.
As per reports, the woman and her cousin were walking towards Mahadevapura to get food when the two men attacked them. They allegedly attacked the woman's cousin and overpowered him. Other accused dragged the 19-year-old to a secluded area and sexually assaulted her, police said.
Some passersby came forward to help the woman after hearing her screams. They rushed to the spot, forcing the attackers to flee. The public managed to catch one of the suspects, Ashif, and handed him over to the cops. The police arrested the other accused within hours.
A detailed investigation has been launched into the matter.
