Sensex drops 262 points in early trade

Mumbai: A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), on Tuesday dropped 261.83 points or one percent during the morning session. The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading 80.45 points or 1.01 percent down at 7,890.85 points. The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 26,127.04 points, was trading at 26,021.26 points (at 9.16 a.m.) in the early session, down 261.83 points or one percent from the previous day’s close at 26,283.09 points. The Sensex touched a high of 26,127.04 points and a low of 25,984.28 points in the trade so far.
