Mumbai : Bhavisya Yaan, the widely acclaimed student enrichment program run by the Rotary Club of Bombay in five Municipal schools directly, turned eight on August 4, 2017.
A well-attended function was held at the Colaba Municipal School where the successful passing out batch of all five schools were felicitated by veteran film actor Gulshan Grover. Ramesh Narayan, president, Rotary Club of Bombay said he was very happy that what began as a dream in one school with 40 children, had grown into a meaningful program that was positively impacting the lives of more than 1,000 underprivileged children on an on-going basis.
He added that the Rotary Club of Bombay was providing special classes for spoken English, computer learning and life skills in these Municipal schools. The program included several interesting offsite visits to a range of destinations ranging from Nature Parks and Naval ships to the sets of popular TV serials. Narayan added that this provided vital exposure to these children. The children had achieved 100 per cent passing percentage at the last Board exam, and had topped several Municipal schools’ results.
Satyan Israni, chairperson, Bhavishya Yaan Committee of the Rotary Club of Bombay said that this program had fired the imagination of Rotarians and their partners who participated in monitoring and mentoring the kids on a daily basis.
