Petrol, diesel prices hiked after remaining unchanged for a day

Petrol and diesel prices rose slightly today, as per the details released by the the state-owned Indian Oil Corporation

Petrol and diesel prices rose slightly today, as per the details released by the the state-owned Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL).

Petrol prices are at Rs. 75.25 in Delhi and Rs. 80.87 in Mumbai, up from Rs. 75.14 in Delhi and Rs. 80.79 in Mumbai on January 1. Diesel prices are at Rs. 68.10 in Delhi and Rs. 71.43 in Mumbai.

In Noida petrol is selling for Rs. 76.46 while diesel costs Rs. 68.38. The price of petrol in Gurugram is Rs. 74.67, and the price of diesel is Rs. 67.09.

In Chennai petrol costs at Rs. 78.20 while diesel is priced at Rs. 71.98.

In Kolkata too prices remained unchanged, with petrol costing Rs. 77.87 while diesel is priced at Rs. 70.49.

Traders said rise in crude oil prices weighed on the domestic unit, while sustained positive opening in domestic equities supported the rupee and restricted the fall.

Meanwhile, brent crude futures, the global oil benchmark, rose by 0.30 per cent to $ 66.20 per barrel.

CNG prices:

The price of CNG currently in Delhi is Rs. 45.20/ Kg as per the Indraprastha Gas website. It is priced at Rs. 51.35/ Kg for the neighbouring areas of Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad, while in Gurugram it is priced at Rs. 58.50/Kg.

According to the Indraprastha website, from 12:00 am to 6:00 am the prices are slightly lower in select CNG outlets. This lowered price is Rs. 44.20/Kg for Delhi and Rs. 50.35/Kg for Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad.
