The finance ministry has invited feedback from various stakeholders including taxpayers to highlight the issues faced during e-filing in the new Income Tax portal. The ministry has invited for written representation.

The ministry has asked stakeholders including members from ICAI, auditors, consultants and taxpayers to send an email to fmo@nic.in by 7 pm of June 18.

Meanwhile, the ministry will present the issue faced by the stakeholders to Infosys on June 22 between 11 am to 1 pm. This interactive meeting will be held between the senior ministry officials and Infosys.

“Written representations on the problems/difficulties faced in the portal have also been invited from the stakeholders. Representatives from Infosys team will be present to answer queries, clarify issues and receive inputs on the working of the portal, to remove glitches and sort out issues faced by the taxpayers,” ministry stated.

On June 8, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday asked Infosys and its Chairman Nandan Nilekani to fix technical glitches being encountered on the income tax department's new e-filing website, after users flooded her Twitter timeline with complaints. Responding to Sitharaman's call to attend to the complaints of the taxpayers regarding issues on the newly launched ITR e-filing portal, Nilekani said that the company regrets the initial glitches and is working to resolve the issues.

Infosys has developed the next-generation income tax filing system to reduce processing time for returns from 63 days to one day and expedite refunds.

The software major had also developed the government's GST Network (GSTN) portal, used for GST payment and return filing, which had also faced initial glitches.
