I read a lot of books from different writers, so it is difficult for me to zero down one book in particular. I have been reading Charles Dickens and Shakespeare since my school days.

Charles Dickens has such a way with words that he brings everything alive in his work. And what can one say of Shakespeare? I have always enjoyed reading Shakespeare, I think the kind of work he created was far ahead of his time. His works have an implication even today.

Other writers’ whose work I have enjoyed reading and have in a way inspired me are the ones by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Khalil Gibran, Thomas Mann, Anton Chekhov and Chinese writer Saki.

If I have to speak about more serious works than it would be the Bhagwad Gita translated by Sri Aurobindo. I don’t claim to be a very religious person, but Bhagwad Gita has so much to offer. Reading it has been an enriching and an enlightening experience.

One historical personality or a fictional character I would love to meet…

I would love to meet Charlie Chaplin. I have always been a fan of his work. Watching him on screen and reading his autobiography has been so much fun.
