Ever since it was announced that Tahir Raj Bhasin, Anchal Singh and Shweta Tripathi's 'Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhein' will be renewed for a second season, the audiences have been waiting with bated breath to see what happens next in the edge-of-the-seat thriller.
The Free Press Journal got in touch with Anchal, who plays an obsessive lover in the web-series, and she spoke at length about her character's arc, her journey in showbiz, challenges that she faced, and more.
Anchal promises 'Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhein 2' will be bigger and better. "It is going to have more masala, entertainment and drama, for sure. While I don't really know what the makers have planned for my character Purva in the second season, I hope this time, people get to see the vulnerable side to Purva," she says.
She continues, "Right now, the viewers just know her as this powerful girl who can go to any extent to make Vikrant (played by Tahir) hers. But people now need to realise that the one thing she did not have since her childhood was love and that is what she has been chasing. And this humane side to Purva really needs to be brought out, while also keeping her poise intact."
Anchal shares that her life has changed completely after 'Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhein'. "I had never imagined I would get such a complex and layered character right at the beginning of my web series journey. Suddenly, people have started validating all my work. I am not just that good-looking Punjabi girl from advertisements anymore. People in showbiz are now seeing me as an actor. They want to know more about me and my body of work. This intrigue from the industry is a beautiful feeling. I've been here for a really long time and I've struggled my way up, all of it for this adulation and attention that I am receiving at present," she gushes.
However, the actress adds that she does not take the success seriously. "Success is like our heartbeat -- one moment it's shooting up, another second it's dropping. So I don't want success to get to my head. My job is to stay focused on my passion and that's acting. I like to get into the minds of my characters. When the camera rolls, it shouldn't look like I am acting, but rather, the audience must believe that the person they are watching on screen is the real me. And that's the goal I want to achieve," she explains.

Looking back at her initial days in the industry, Anchal mentions that she knew nothing about the ways of showbiz and that working in ads helped her a lot. She also reveals that her journey hasn't been a cakewalk, but she was always prepared for the challenges.
"There were a lot of rejections initially, but I knew I was going to face them. I was replaced at the last moment from two Telugu films, and this is just the tip of the iceberg. I was always very graceful about rejections though and I had the confidence that I'll crack it one day," she avers.
On a parting note, we asked Anchal about her course of action going ahead. To that, she shares, "Apart from 'Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhein 2', I will also be shooting for the third season of 'Undekhi'. I have some interesting scripts and auditions lined up, but there's nothing concrete yet."
She adds, "I know for a fact that even with all the love and validation I am receiving right now, I have not achieved everything in life. I still have to keep pushing myself and there will be a day when I'll be in a comfortable position and where the struggle will be a little less and the choices a bit more. But until then, I won't stop the hustle and I won't lose hope."
