Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Club Literati hosted the launch of Vicharon Ki Ladi, the debut poetry collection by IRS officer and poet Maya Jaju Maheshwari at Arera Club in the city on Saturday.
The event moderator was Dr Neelkamal Kapoor, a writer and former Dean research at AIIMS Bhopal.
The event served as a tribute to ND Jaju, Maya Jaju’s father and renowned Sahitya Ratna, whose literary legacy was celebrated by attendees and participants alike.
Maya’s collection, Vicharon Ki Ladi (“A String of Thoughts”), was introduced as a tapestry of poems on nature, relationships, courage, and the subtleties of daily life.
Dr. Kapoor drew out rich insights on how Maya navigates the parallel worlds of bureaucracy and literature. Maya shared personal anecdotes about finding inspiration in her childhood and her father’s influence in shaping her artistic voice.
The discussion touched on Maya's motivations for addressing a wide array of subjects, from relationships and motherhood to contemporary issues and the pandemic. She spoke about the discipline required to write amidst professional and domestic responsibilities, and her conscious decision to explore positive messages in her work.
Maya also read select poems titled “Maa,” “Bachpan”, and “Prakriti Aur Zindagi”.
