Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): RSS Sarkaryavah Dattatrey Hosabolesaid that a positive family atmosphere fosters ‘Sanskarit’ youths, who can contribute significantly to the nation. He cited the example of Jijamata, who raised her son, Shivaji Maharaj, under challenging circumstances, instilling moral values that helped him become a ruler dedicated to serving society.

"Jijamata was firm in her belief that her son would not serve, but would become a ruler, and serve the society," he said, underlining the importance of strong family foundations. Speaking at the Jijamata Samman Samaroh held at Ravindra Bhawan on Sunday evening, Hosabole also pointed out the negative impact of modern technology on youths, especially mobile phones, which he believes have increased fickleness.

He said it is important to impart moral values to younger generation to enable them to serve the nation effectively. Regarding sports, Hosabole acknowledged that sportspeople and soldiers, irrespective of their region, are symbols of national pride. He lauded Kreeda Bharti for organising the event and stressed the importance of recognising those who train medal-winning athletes.

During the ceremony, mothers of six notable athletes were honoured for their support and contributions to their children’s success. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also praised the role of parents, stating that a player’s achievements are often deeply rooted in their parents’ guidance and sacrifice.

Star moms feted

The award in honour of Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra’s mother was received by his uncle, Bhim Singh. Besides, mothers of several prominent athletes were felicitated during the event, including Gauri Karmakar, mother of India’s first female gymnast Deepa Karmakar; Moni Devi, mother of Olympic boxer Lovlina Borgohain; Usha Kumari, mother of former Indian Hockey team goalkeeper PR Sreejesh; Kamla Devi, mother of Indian Hockey player Vivek Sagar; and Shweta Lekhara, mother of Paralympic gold medalist Avani Lekhara.

Prize for Gyan contest winners

Three students who emerged winners of the All India Kreeda Gyan competition were also felicitated during the event. The first prize of Rs 1 lakh was awarded to Parth Prajapat, who is currently pursuing IIT in Dhanbad. The second prize, which included a cash reward of Rs 50,000, was given to Dev Kareliya and Abhishek Kumar.

Minister lauds Kreeda Bharti

Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya praised Kreeda Bharti for recognising the significant role of mothers in the success of sports persons. He said that the government has started focusing more on training of athletes to ensure their success on national and international stage.
