Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A disturbing incident was reported from Bhamka village of Jabalpur’s Katangi police station area, where a teenage girl was assaulted at her residence and forced to consume poison by miscreants who had been harassing her for a long time, the police reported on Sunday.
After poisoning her, the accused forcibly took her to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
It is said that the victim was a student of class 10 and she had been facing harassment for a long time while commuting to school. The accused reportedly made inappropriate advances, passed lewd comments, and even made obscene phone calls.
Four accused involved
According to police, four accused involved in the crime have been identified as Ramakant Yadav, Chhotu Thakur, Manish Yadav, and Ranu Thakur, all residents of the same village.
At present, victim’s body has been taken from Bauria Sub-Health Center to Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem.
Jabalpur Investigating Officer Ritu Upadhyay said that police have taken the matter into cognizance and started an investigation into the matter. A team is gathering evidence to take strict action against the accused.
Family demand strict action
Decastated, the victim’s family has demanded stringent action against the accused, ensuring justice for their daughter.
Victim’s Uncle Rakesh Mishra, said, "We will not rest until justice is served. The accused should face the harshest punishment."
Another relative, Mukesh Dubey said, "This is a heinous crime, and we demand immediate action."
