Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A major fraud has been uncovered in the SSC online examination for recruitment in central paramilitary forces, on Tuesday. Nine fake candidates were caught at the BSF Training Center in Tekanpur, Gwalior. The fraud was detected during document verification and biometric checks.

The scam involved candidates from Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, who hired ‘solvers’ from Chhattisgarh to take the exam on their behalf. These solvers appeared for the SSC online written exam in 2024 using fake identities.

Accused caught from training centre

The fraud came to light when these candidates reported to the BSF academy in Tekanpur for training between January 21 and 25. During verification, their biometric details did not match. BSF officials immediately informed the Bilaua police station, after which 9 accused were arrested.

The arrested candidates revealed that they got in touch with a gang through a middleman. The deal was that half the payment would be made before the exam and the rest after clearing it. The gang arranged for solvers from Chhattisgarh, who took the exam using the applicants’ documents but their own photographs and biometrics.

When the final verification was done at the BSF academy, the mismatch in biometric data exposed the fraud.

Possible Large Network Involved
Interestingly, two candidates with the same name but different addresses were found involved along with a solver. Their documents clearly mentioned Chhattisgarh as their address.

Police suspect a large gang behind the fraud. It is also suspected that the addresses used during the application process were fake.

The arrested accused will be presented in court, where the police will seek their remand for further investigation.

Police believe this scam could be part of a nationwide network helping candidates cheat in competitive exams using solvers.
