Narmadapuram (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board has received revenue of more than Rs 2 crore from October 2021 till date in the wake of steps taken by the power distribution company’s vigilance team’s steps taken to check power theft.
Divisional engineer of the power board (DE) Ankur Mishra and vigilance divisional engineer (DE) Pradyumna Gajve said a joint campaign was started from the month of October to check the theft of electricity in the city.
During the inspection, action was taken against those who were found to be using electricity illegally in more than 1200 buildings. More than Rs 2 crore were deposited by such people.
The Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board has divided Narmadapuram city into two parts- zone 1 and zone 2. During checking here, a maximum number of power theft cases were reported in zone 2.
Both the officers said this campaign would continue continuously.
They have appealed to citizens to take valid electricity connections and use electricity in the right way and avoid the troubles. They have also appealed to the citizens that if someone steals electricity around them they should give its information to the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board. Their names will be kept secret.
