Damoh (Madhya Pradesh): A tragic incident unfolded in Madhya Pradesh's Damoh where a woman jumped into a well with her 2-year-old daughter. Both of them died by drowning in the water.

The incident took place at around 4 am on Wednesday in Sajiyahar village of Patharia police station area of Damoh. The woman's elder daughter is 4 years old.

Notably, her husband also died after jumping from the roof of his residence two days ago.

According to information, the deceased woman was identified as Seema Patel, who took to her social media handle informing about her extreme step and wote, “I am leaving this world today. I will not be able to live anymore, please take care of my daughter.”

In another post prior to that, she wrote, "We spent good days together. I did not even realize and you left me." in reference to her husband's alleged suicide.

Seema's husband Nihal Patel was a prosperous farmer of the village. Despite spending a lot of money in the Sarpanch elections, he lost.

Seema's brother Dhirendra informed police, "I was at my sister's in-laws' place on Tuesday. I slept in the other room after having dinner. At around 4 am, my sister's sister-in-law woke me up. She told me that Seema died by suicide by jumping into the well along with her daughter Anshu. I am sure that my sister's sister-in-law murdered her and threw the body in the well."

Adding to the allegation, Seema’s father Vishwanath Patel claimed that his daughter had been harassed for dowry ever since her marriage, 5 years ago. He said, "I had given 10 lakh rupees in dowry and a few days ago, I had given 5 lakh rupees once again. Despite this, her in-laws were torturing my daughter."

Patharia police station ASI Santosh Singh said that Seema's brother-in-law Kamlesh Patel had informed about the incident at 8 am on Wednesday. A case has been registered and investigation has been initiated. If the allegations are found to be true, action will be taken as per the rules.
