Guna (Madhya Pradesh): A elderly couple was found dead at their residence in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district, the officials reported on Friday.

According to information, the incident took place in Dhakad Colony under Kotwali police station limits spreading panic in the entire area.

The two deceased have been identified as 75-year-old retired government lawyer Dilip Kumar Goyal and his 70-year-old wife Kiran Goyal, a retired teacher.

Dilip Goyal’s body was found hanging inside the house, while Kiran Goyal was found lying on a bed.

At the time of the incident, their son and daughter-in-law were in Rajgarh district.

When family members could not reach them on the phone, neighbours were informed, leading to the discovery of the incident.

Police reached the spot soon after receiving information and started an investigation. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem at Guna District Hospital.

Man wished to have favourite dish a day ago

A relative, Pankaj Kumar Goyal, said that Kiran Goyal had been suffering from a long illness and was under treatment in cities like Indore and Bhopal, but her condition did not improve.

He also mentioned that Dilip Goyal had tried to contact him earlier. A day before the incident, Dilip had expressed his wish to eat his favourite meal, dal-tikkar.

Locals suspect that Kiran may have consumed phenyl due to her illness, and distressed by this, Dilip Goyal may have taken the extreme step.

However, police said the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after detailed investigation and post-mortem reports.
