Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh is witnessing constant weather changes due to the activation of new systems. New systems have triggered rainfall, thunderstorms and a significant drop in temperature in 20 districts across the state.
Earlier on Thursday, several areas experienced light rain and thunderstorms, while Singrauli and Mandla witnessed thundershowers on Friday. According to the Meteorological Department, Mandla recorded 1 mm of rainfall over the past 24 hours, while drizzles were reported in Dindouri as well.
Thunderstorms and rainfall alert in 30 districts
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for 30 districts, with Jabalpur, Gwalior, Sagar, and Shahdol divisions expected to be most affected.
A senior meteorologist stated, "Such weather conditions will persist on March 21, 22, and 23. Due to the changing weather patterns, daytime temperatures have dropped significantly in various cities."
The temperature dipped to 27.8°C in Sidhi, 28.8°C in Rewa, 31.4°C in Satna, and 32.5°C in Naugaon.
Hailstorm in Damoh-Katani
According to the weather department over the next 24 hours, rainfall along with hailstorm is expected in Damoh, Katni, Umaria, Shahdol, Dindouri, and Anuppur.
An orange alert has been issued for Morena, Gwalior, Bhind, and Datia due to severe thunderstorms.
Shivpuri, Ashoknagar, Satna, Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, Singrauli, Jabalpur, Mandla, Narsinghpur, Siwini, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Narmadapuram, Betul and Harda are also likely to experience thunderstorms.
Weather for next 2 days
March 22: Orange alert has been issued for thunderstorm and hail in Katni, Dindouri, Mandla, Siwini and Balaghat. Thunderstorms may also occur in Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, Singrauli, Maihar, Umaria, Shahdol and Anuppur.
March 23: Thunderstorm and light rain expected in Shahdol, Anuppur and Balaghat.
Heatwave conditions likely by Month-End
While the state is currently experiencing a cool spell, the weather department has predicted a return to hot conditions by the end of March. In many cities, the mercury can breach over 40 degrees Celsius.
Generally, if the temperature of the day is more than 40 degrees or more than 4.6 degrees than normal, then the condition of heat wave is considered.
