MP: 6-Day Internship At Ayurveda-AYUSH Colleges Must For Foreign MBBS Students

National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), New Delhi has also fixed the curriculum under Ayurveda System of Medicine Elective Internship.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 6-day or one week elective internship has been introduced at  Ayurveda-AYUSH colleges for the students pursuing MBBS course in foreign countries under alternative medicine.

National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), New Delhi has also fixed the curriculum under Ayurveda System of Medicine Elective Internship.

As per the curriculum, the students will study various subjects, including Physiology, Kayachikitsa, Panchkarma, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Kaumarbhritya, Shalakya and Surgery, along with Dosha, Dhatu, Agni, Koshta, Rasapanchak, Principles of Bhaishjya Kalpana, Ayurvedic Patho-physiology.

Various procedures will be taught through discussion and medicine will be studied and taught in the context of patients of IPD, OPD of hospitals affiliated to Ayurveda-AYUSH colleges. Dr Rakesh Pandey, national spokesperson of Ayush Medical Association, said, “After completing MBBS from foreign countries the students have to do an internship.

After coming back to India and clearing the FMGE exam, during the one year internship, one week of elective internship is required in Ayurveda-AYUSH colleges under alternative medicine. Only then will the five-and-a-half-year MBBS degree be valid and after registration, they are eligible to practice as doctors.”

Pandey further said that six days or 1 week Ayush elective internship of alternative medicine in Ayurveda colleges is beneficial for medical students to gain knowledge of the Indian medical system.
