Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A woman lost her life after being attacked by a tiger near Madhya Pradesh’s Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve in the Panpatha range, as confirmed by authorities on Wednesday.
According to information, the incident occurred around 9 am near Kushwaha Kothia village when the woman was collecting Mahua flowers.
The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Rani Singh, wife of Omprakash Singh Gond and a resident of Kushmaha Kothia.
Victim couldn’t scream for help
She was picking Mahua flowers near her house when the tiger attacked her suddenly. The tiger, which was hiding in the bushes nearby, mistook her for an animal when she bent down to collect the flowers.
The tiger grabbed the woman by her neck, killing her instantly. She didn't even get a chance to scream for help. However, some villagers saw the attack and started shouting, which made the tiger flee after killing her.
Tiger attacks frequent in village
The presence of a tiger so close to the village has created panic among the villagers. After the incident, the angry villagers demanded safety measures from the forest department. They insist that the tiger should be relocated to prevent further attacks.
Since Mahua flowers are currently falling from trees, villagers often go into the forest to collect them, as they depend on forest produce for their livelihood. The forest officials have advised villagers to avoid going deep into the jungle and have assured them that efforts will be made to drive the tiger back into the forest.
