Sehore: There is no end in sight to caste-related violence in the district.

After a Dalit youth was recently battered to death, another incident of a Dalit youth being severely beaten up for having food sitting in front of a motel owner in Shyampur area has come to light.

When the Dalit youth went to Shyampur police station to lodge a complaint, the cops there did not cooperate with him.

Rather than listening to the youth’s complaint, police station in charge RS Yadav advised him not to have food in that motel.

The Dalit youth Dhara Singh Malviya, a resident of Munjkheda, lodged a complaint at Anusuchit Jati Janjati Kalyan police station.

According to the plaint, on June 1, when Malviya went to the roadside motel to take food along with his cousins, Hem Singh and Ravi Malviya, the owner of the motel Arjun Meena and his father hurled caste-related abuses at them.

Two other persons Gabbar and Dileep, who were present at the motel then, also abused Malviya and his cousins.

When they protested against it, the motel owner and others beat up Malviya.

Report not lodged

The youth Dhara Singh Malviya alleged that after the incident when he had gone to the Shyampur police station to lodge a report, in charge RS Yadav advised him not to have food at the motel.

Yadav said that these people had fought earlier also, so the incident had nothing to do with caste.

The youth’s application was accepted and a probe into it began, Yadav said.
